Perseverance

For some of us, perseverance was displayed this past weekend when we got up at our regularly scheduled time on Sunday, even though it was an hour earlier than what we were accustomed to. Painful? Most definitely. (And if you happened to be at any of Saturday’s morning classes, it was doubly so.) But we had a goal — to get adjusted to the “loss” of that hour so that we could get back on track and be able to perform to our best ability as quickly as possible.

In a recent Black Belt class, during a challenging warm-up, one Black Belt declared out loud that he was not going to give up! (What was even better was that the rest of the class agreed that they weren’t going to give up either! And, by the way, no one did!!)

Perseverance comes at all different levels. We probably all know someone who perseveres through daily challenges – physical or emotional, or someone who has had to persevere through a great loss. Though we may not consciously think about it, deep down we all realize that perseverance is a key component in success, no matter whether the challenge is big, small, or somewhere in between.

So… don’t give up. Whatever it is that you want to achieve in the next hour, the next day, the next week, month, year or decade — however big or small an achievement it may be, set your sights on success and don’t give up!!
