Congratulations to all the students who participated in District Championships this past weekend! It was a new and different experience and our students handled the challenge with awesome attitudes! We’re very proud of everything they have accomplished!!

Special Congratulations go out to Mr. Thomas Burkman who took 1st place in Sparring, Mr. Eric Packer who took 1st place in both Sparring and Combat Weapons, and Mrs. Nancy Ansley who took 1st place in Sparring!! Well done!!

And now… it’s time to set your sights on World Championships! ;)

Congratulations to all the Color Belts who kicked off their summer vacations by advancing in rank! But just because it is summer, don’t slack off in your training! Maintain that focus and discipline and keep up with your classes so you can reach your goal of becoming a Black Belt!!

Special THANKS go out to Mrs. Carpenter, Mr. Burns, Mr. Riggs, Mrs. Radkevich, and Mr. Dmitri Radkevich for showing up to help out with the graduations and support all the Color Belts on their Black Belt journey!

Have you seen the latest edition of ATAWorld Magazine? Our very own Sr. Master Michael Niblock, is featured in this edition reflecting on the past as he moves toward the future as a Chief Master Nominee!! :)

Dads train free during the month of June! You heard correctly. Why not start your Saturday by doing something a little more fun than mowing the lawn and join your kids in class instead? Not only will you get a great workout, you will leave even more motivated to get that yard work done. It may sound counter-intuitive, but these TKD classes really do get you ready to go, Go, GO!! Come try it out and see for yourself!

Juniors, don’t forget that this Sunday, June 16th, is Father’s Day! Be sure to treat dad to a nice, relaxing day! He has definitely earned it after all the times he has scared away the monsters from under the bed, and driven hours to get you to and from competitions, and taken care of that bug that was bigger than your hand… and especially for when he didn’t tell mom about that thing you did that you weren’t supposed to… (That was a “learning experience”, by the way, so learn from it and don’t repeat it!) ;)

Niblock’s ATA wishes all our TKD Dads and Granddads a very restful and relaxing Father’s Day!! :)

Attitude

Every now and then you will have an absolutely perfect day, when things just really couldn’t have gone any better. More often than not, however, you will have days when things could have gone a LOT better. And such is life. Is that a reason to go moping about? No way. Now, not everyone is going to look at life’s little speed bumps and immediately be grateful for the lessons that have been handed to them. In fact, most of us have most likely tripped over those speed bumps, been flung face first into the gravel, and are sitting on the ground grumbling. And that’s normal, maybe even a little healthy. Sometimes you just need to growl a little bit. But you can’t sit there grumbling for too long. After all, what’s that going to get you? A sore bottom at best (especially with the Texas sun beating down on that asphalt.)

So, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, take a deep breath and consider if you can take away a life lesson from the incident. Maybe you can immediately, or maybe it is something you will come to realize later on. Then… move on. And if you are still feeling a little grumbly, consider the following:

“If you don’t get everything you want, think of the things you don’t get that you don’t want.” ~ Oscar Wilde ~

“You can’t always get what you want But if you try sometimes you just might find You get what you need.” ~ The Rolling Stones ~

Changing your perspective can help change your attitude. And besides, it’s hard to argue with those words of wisdom now, isn’t it? ;)
